In a recent discussion on osirix-dev list, Antoine Rosset explained that the future of OsiriX is very probably Leopard (aka MacosX 10.5) exclusive. This is excelent news since OsiriX team is known to integrate very quickly the new amazing features of new Mac operative system.
The first feature of Leopard MacosX 10.5 which will be used is the posibility to address memory with a 64 bits address bus. This will enable OsiriX to use a lot of memory and is usefull for speeding up the reconstruction of 3D models out of the huge amount of data produced by ever more precise imagenological modalities.... read more

We were amazed by OsiriX, loved it, contributed to it and then felt that as the proyect is evolving it tries to gather within one aplication too many different aspects of the comunication of the medical image.
Syncronized and superposed 2D, 3D and 4D is what we love most from OsiriX.
As for the rest, it seems that other open source projects work better. Why not to take the best of each project and gather these bits in an easy Apple interface ?
Aditionally, there are jewels in Tiger OS which are not used powerfully in OsiriX. Hence:
We want Spotlight instead of OsiriX database.
We want Quartz composer instead of 2D viewer.
We want Colorsync in the graphical pipeline.
We want Automator to create workflow
We want independant specifically tailored channels for each of the comunicating device in the dicom network.
