I've added milestones to the 'Tickets' section of the project, along with tickets for each milestone. The tickets lay out the major features to be added to the application to make it alpha release ready.
I'm steadily adding features to the codebase. There are now two screens, the main song (sequence) editor, and the pattern editor, both of which currently have minimal editing capabilities. Two more screens are planned, a mixer and an instrument/kit editor.

As an amateur musician, I've frequently used the wonderful Hydrogen advanced drum machine for GNU/Linux ( http://www.hydrogen-music.org/ ) to create drum parts to practice against or to import into the Ardour ( http://www.ardour.org/ ) digital audio workstation to record additional parts.
