TidyBatch renames many files at once from the command line. It shows a preview by default and changes nothing until you add --apply; 'tidybatch undo' reverts the last applied run. Renames never overwrite a file: chains and swaps are done in two phases, and name clashes get _1, _2. Names come from templates (numbering, file date, photo date taken) or regex find/replace, with optional --slug and --lower. One Python file, standard library only, MIT. No graphical interface; runs offline. TidyBatch Pro (one-time purchase) adds sorting into folders, duplicate finding and apps for Windows and Linux. By Stillwater Tools.

Features

  • Dry run by default: nothing changes without --apply
  • One-command undo of the last applied run
  • Never overwrites: safe chains and swaps
  • Case-insensitive collision checks (Windows, macOS)
  • Templates: numbering, file date, EXIF date taken
  • Regex find and replace, --slug, --lower
  • No dependencies: Python 3.9+ standard library
