Hello Don, your hint to use the kernel ports from the Stable-5.6 branch was very helpful. Thanks Michael Nah, this was a change they made to what gets installed when you run make install. Used to install some extra files that were used during linking. Very annoying. You should be able to checkout 5.6 kernels, with git checkout -f 5.6-Stable ts/ports/kernel-modules, over your 5.5 tree and get fixed kernel packages. Try switching to CONFIG_UNWINDER_FRAME_POINTER instead Alternatively, switch to 5.6-Stable which has 4.14 by default. If you don't want to do 5.6, I'd recommend grabbing at least the port specification from 5.6 for the kernel - there are other changes that might bite you that we've already accounted for. 5.6 has GTK3 though if you want latest Firefox. I know we're still looking to see if 6.1 can be made smaller, but if you want the latest stuff it's where you have to go. Everyone is dropping support for 32-bit and old SysV installs and unfortunately the new stuff has some serious bloat. I have started to make the necessary changes in /ts/ports/kernel-modules/. Unfortunately I get some errors/warnings about cross-compiling at the port /ts/ports/kernel_modules/kernel-TS_64: CHK include/config/kernel.release CHK include/generated/uapi/linux/version.h CHK include/generated/utsrelease.h DESCEND objtool <stdin>:1:0: error: CPU you selected does not support x86-64 instruction set <stdin>:1:0: error: CPU you selected does not support x86-64 instruction set CHK scripts/mod/devicetable-offsets.h CHK include/generated/timeconst.h 4.9.33 could still be compiled without errors. Do you have an idea? I don't want to switch to version 6.1, because the boot images are much larger than those of version 5.5.2. The image with the configuration "tiny" is 34 megabytes after all.
