Micro$oft issued a press statement a short time ago claiming that they will no longer allow "3rd party MSN messenger clients" to connect to their MSN messenger servers. They are doing this by removing all support for versions MSNP7 and below from the MSN messenger servers throughout September 2003 and have specified a "deadline" for all users to be using their official version of MSN messenger by October 15th, 2003. Upgraded to support MSNP9, however the new custom-emoticons and personal picture 'avatars' are as yet un-supported.

theClient now supports MSNP8 the latest MSN Messenger protocol implementation. Although the methods used are not identical to the official MSN Messenger, it's about 95% reliable. MSNP7 support remains also, if you have too many difficulties logging in with MSNP8 then select "MSNP7" @ the main login screen.
