The Beacon is a Tent. A temporary base that allows a poet to inhabit a place, hosting people and hearing their stories. The Beacon is a Poem. With site as source-material, a poet uses custom software to compose lines of verse that link and re-link dynamically in real-time. The Beacon is a Performance. An ever-changing exercise in forms of spontaneous, site-specific, community-based writing. The Beacon is a Journey. A way of involving whole communities in collective creation, radiating words out into the night, tracing themes across the American landscape.
