we couldnt get the registraiton key fr the beta of softvns2 to work, so no vns.
we tested differencing in nato, using ir illumination + ir camera,
and it looked promising. (making into a well lit vision tracking problem).
i really cant remeber why you and yifan were so against this idea.
unfortunately, our ir camera suffered a brief dose of reverse polarity voltage 
+ stoped working. we then tried differencing, regulated by feedback from the 
visual plane and 'twitchiness' of the activity. 
this was enough to gove an aproxmattion of position, but no identity. 
we didnt rely on tracking data so much.
