Under ubuntu and trisquel (linux distros) I use texmaker (the original) since it was the fist i found in the software centre. I am low level user and find little difference. TexmakerX does the job incerdibly well (thanks developers!) for me right now but if i wanted to upgrade to texstudio would I just need to install texstudio on top or would i be better off uninstalling texmakerX. In general with new versions, you can safely install one version on top of the other. But TeXstudio is handled as a program different to TexmakerX, because name and paths changed. So you will have them side by side. Nevertheless TeXstudio tries to import old TexmakerX settings. > One thing i noted that texmakerX makes reference to the spelling dictionaries to an out of date diccionary repository for openoffice. That's known. I don't know any current hunspell repository. Even the hunspell website points to openoffice. Maybe we'll make it possible to read dictionaries from the newer openoffice plugins. |
