Please add a command to split the text editor window in two halves. If we have a long file and references, for example, we want to have the references in the lower half where we add them as needed, and we want to edit the text above. This is more pratical then writing "As Joe Doe Said \cite{JoeDoe}" [then scroll at the end to include the reference, then come back to complete the text:] "http://sourceforge.net/p/texstudio/feature-requests/new/#it would be good to have the text divided into two halves". This split into two halves is also practical in the pdf viewer.

In case of editing a long document, it is also useful to make a reference to an equation or any label separated by a large text distance
Splitting a view of a single file is not possible with the current editor component. Technically, one would need to sync both versions of the text. This is not possible with QCodeEdit2, but will change with QCodeEdit3. However, it's probably still a long before q release of QCE3.
Bumping this one: Splitting a view of a single file would still be extremely useful. I'm currently switching back and forth to Emacs for large files.
Unfortunately, there seems to be little to no progress in QCodeEdit 3:

https://git.tuxfamily.org/qcodeedit/qce3.git
So, how are things looking on this one?
Thanks,
Florian
No changes. This is not possible with the current editor component and it doesn't look like there'll be an alternative.
So as of now, there is no indication that this request can be fulfilled.
Editing multiple locations of the same file could be very useful for example when consolidating an idea from different points of a paper into one location. Could you please figure out a way to add this feature?
Sorry, there's no way to do this. The editor component does not support multiple views to the same file. The only options are rewriting the editor component or switching to another editor component such as QScintilla. Both of which would be serveral-hundered-hour efforts.
To say this feature would be useful is an understatement. It is a common feature in several IDEs for code, so users of such IDEs are likely to expect this sort of feature. I know that not having this feature is frustrating me.
The benefit of such a feature is apparent. As already said, it unfortunately simply not possible with the current codebase of TeXstudio. If you really need that, I'm afraid, you'll have to look for an alternative editor.
