I write heavily-footnoted documents. It would be great to be able to control the highlighting of footnote text.\footnote{Footnote text.} For example, to change the background colour to light grey, etc. A bit like the attached example, which is a kludge.

Maybe this is already possible with TeXStudio's Custom Highlighting feature, but I cannot find out how to use that feature.

    Sorry, this is currently not possible. Particularly highlighting the contents of custom commands is somewhat involved.

    The custom highlighting is not working properly at present. Furthermore it should be redesigned for more flexibility.

    Custom highlighting should be reconsidered and improved. Likely not before QCE3.

    This request is too specialized for a general-purpose feature.

    If this is really desired, you can customize the language definition.
