I've find a little bug in TeXstudio 2.3 (SVN 2471) version. If the keyboard language is set Hungarian, the opening square bracket (AltGr + F) does not work. I can oly write it Alt + 91, but it's not so comfortable.
Same problem exists on a Croatian keyboard (on Win XP). AltGr+F does not produce anything, although the key is labeled "left square bracket" [, while AltGr+G correctly produces the "right square bracket" ]
The "left square bracket" works fine in other applications, also in this comment window.
Do you have any shortcut assigned to Ctrl+Alt+F?
What happens if you disable the Ctrl+F shortcut for the search panel?
Can you compile it from source to make some experiments?
There is a nice workaround:

Yes, there was the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+F assigned. I set the shortcut for this function to and now I can type left square brackets.
To remove the shortcut
1. go to Options > Configure TeXstudio
2. under "Shortcuts" find the command Menus > Idefix > Go To > Definition. You will see in the third column that its "Default Shortcut" is Ctrl+Alt+F, as well as in the fourth column its "Current Shortcut"
3. In the fourth column "Current Shortcut" double click on the text "Ctrl+Alt+F" and a drop down list will open.
4. scroll all the way to the top and select "" and close the window with ok.
Now the left square bracket should work when typing AltGr+F or Ctrl+Alt+F
