I defined my own cwl file. That solevd the problem. Thank you for checking.
Then next step is tikzpictures code where I get a mix of "unregogized command" and "math command outside math env" errors, but I will check the readme further and see if I can find a solution.

This is much overdue, I am sorry, but this is what I did:
1) I created a "myfile.cwl" text file and entered \numberwithin as a string to that file.
2) I stored the file in the local config directory for Texstudio (Apple OSX):
~/.config/texstudio/completion/user
3) I went to Preferences->Completion and selected the "myfile.cwl" file.
I continue to add odd items, from time to time, to this file, as they pop up. They are not too many, so I am fine.
Hopefully you did find a similar solution, meanwhile,
Magnus

Hello TXS-help
I get \numberwithin{equation}{section} marked as an unrecognized command as per screen_dump attachement.
I have managed to fix similar problems by selecting a <package>.cwl file in preferences-completion, but in this case I do not know what to do.

I would suggest that you read: https://sourceforge.net/p/texstudio/wiki/Frequently%20Asked%20Questions/#why-does-texstudio-mark-a-command-as-unrecognized

Hello magnus. I have the same problem but I don't understand your solution. What do mean by create your own cwl file?
Thank you.
