Im using TexStudio 2.12.6 on my MacBook Pro 2017 and macOS 10.13.2 with an external 4k Display @ HighDPI mode. The performance of TexStudio is quite laggy. Scrolling and typing is slow.

I ran into the same issue. The specifics on my setup:

Mac Model: 2017 15-inch MacBook Pro
    Monitor: LG 32UD59-B
    Mac OS: 10.13.2
    Resolution: 3360 x 1890
Java Version: Java 8 Update 161
Qt Version 5.7.1, compiled with Qt 5.7.1 R

There is a several second lag between when I type a character and when it appears on screen. Also, the CPU usage is very high (70-90%) when the program is selected but idle (i.e., I am not clicking or typing anything). It took me a while to debug this issue in fact since I never guessed this could be the root cause. However, move the TexStudio Window from the 4K monitor to a standard HD monitor, and everything works without issue.

I had been using TexStudio for month on this machine before the upgrade to the 4K monitor and never had a problem.

Edit: If I decrease the resolution on my 4K monitor, the problem goes away. I would hope for a real fix as this affects everything else I am working on when TexStudio is open.

This morning, I upgraded my Macbook to OS version 10.13.3. I am no longer seeing the lag issue with TexStudio. I am not sure if that is just because of a fix in OSX or just that the TexStudio issue is intermittent. If the problem returns, I will update.

I spoke prematurely with my earlier post. This issue is still present in MacOS version 10.13.3. However, the problem comes and goes. I do not currently have an explanation/root cause for this intermittent phenomenon.
