Compiling a document (F6) works just fine, however, as soon as I press F7 (viewing the document), texstudio crashes with a segfault.

    I'm using texstudio_2.12.6-5+5.1_amd64.deb für Ubuntu 17.04

    i would not bet that a build for 17.04 works on 17.10 ...

    Does it happen with every document or just a specific one?

    If the former, please use either the version shipped with ubuntu, or compile TeXstudio yourself, until we release packages for 17.10.
    If the latter, can you please provide the document?

    I just experienced the same behaviour on Fedora 26, package texlive.x86_64 (6:2016-33.20160520.fc26.1)

    However the last updates I had were Gtk and I get the message;
    "GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged."
    when started from terminal, but this doesn't seem to crash it.

    I am not "betting" that a build for 17.04 works on 17.10. I just tries the 17.04 build since it was the only one offered. All library dependencies seemed to be there, but TexStudio crashing indicates that some library might have changed ABI without changing their so version.

    Could you point me at some documentation about how to build the debian package myself? I would give it try but I dont know much about building deb files. I'm more a Gentoo/Arch guy.

    I just retried, I get the error "Segmentation fault" when texstudio crashes, the Gtk-Message comes without the crash
