I see, that it is very difficult to get a 100% perfect syntax highlighting due to the chaotic syntax of LaTeX. However, isotopes are very common with mhchem and it would be great, if they would not raise warnings.

That's what I was suggesting. A dedicated "chemical formula" context would be a bit of an overkill. But a "no syntax checking" context may be reasonable.
As a current workaround, you can still deactivate syntax checking globally in the options.

That's true. However, it's not feasible to specify every context exactly.
Jan, do you think it's possible and reasonable to deactivate syntaxchecking for command arguments using cwl?
