I use ScrollLock to change the keyboard layout so the side-effect of moving cursor one letter left is very annoying. Strangely restart helps (at least sometimes).

    Parabola GNU/Linux

    plasma-workspace 5.9.2-1
    xorg-server 1.19.1-5
    texstudio 2.12.2-1

    -

    TeXstudio 2.12.2 (hg 6380:fa06c5c5e9d8)
Using Qt Version 5.8.0, compiled with Qt 5.7.1 R

The bug appears rarely, but after appearance, only restart helps. Also sometimes the cursor moves by more than one character, jumping into a placeholder or whatever.

seems to be a arch linux based distro.
we don't debug problems on arch as they the have an infamous track record on being arch problems.

That’s sad that you disregard Arch users that much.
Still, you can find it interesting that this happens after you open the “Configure TeXstudio” window and press OK.

well, it is difficult/impossible to find a bug/issue if it is not reproducible.
And after spending some time trying to debug issues which were reported on arch (and which sometimes disappeared without any changes in txs), and which were never reproduced anywhere else, I am a little sceptical.
