If I type 't, "t, `t or ~t in my .tex file TeXstudio immediately builds and renders the file. The t does not appear in the source, the character preceding it does. I have tried this for all other letters. Only the t triggers this behavior.

Please check your shortcut settings: Options -> Shortcuts -> Tools -> Build & View

    Nothing irregular it seems.

do you have any keyboard extensions/tools/utilities installed ?

    I do not.

Also, this does not occur in Word or Google Docs.

No idea where this comes from. Does it still happen in 2.12.2?

    Yes it does.

By the way, it doesn't happen if I type it before running Build & View for the first time after opening TexStudio.

I have the same problem, with 2.12.2 on windows 10, it's very strange (and annoying when you need to type ^t constantly) and it occurs when I type :

    ^t, 't, ~t, ¨t

No problem here (Linux Mageia 5, TeXstudio 2.12.4 hg 6478+:8cb5ca22bc9e+, Qt version 4.8.6).

    Not fixed in 2.12.6.

    "TeXstudio 2.12.6 (hg 6632:7777b2b8a906)
Maakt gebruik van Qt Version 5.9.1, gecompileerd met Qt 5.9.1 R"

it happens only on very, very few systems, it seems to be related rather to the system set-up, probably something to do with keyboard processing.
Since we can't replicate the behaviour, there is nothing we can do.

No problem. If I ever find the cause I'll let you know! :)

I've had the same problem, but fixed it using Tim's advice. See this thread for bug #2241.

Removing the F5-shortcut solves the problem for me. Using F1 does not cause any problems.

Maybe something of note for debugging: when I now type 't only the apostrophe appears and the cursor is in front of the apostrophe. Maybe that weird behavior has something to do with the problem.

Thanks for the help anyway! :)
