Windows 10, TeXstudio 2.10.8 (hg 5804:967c6023de2d)
Using Qt Version 5.5.1, compiled with Qt 5.5.1 R

Works fine on Linux, but today on Windows 10 I get
Unhandled exception at 0x68ACC003 (Qt5Core.dll) in texstudio.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0x00FF05BC.
When I try to close a PDF preview or when I close txs with the preview pane open. Start with nothing loaded, select existing .tex file (uses TikZ) create PDF. Close pane and txs crashes.

Tried re-installing txs. Long term and constant txs user. Many windoze versions, linux flavours. This is first problem.

Maybe it IS a TikZ thing. It's odd though, as the behaviour does not happen on my linux laptop and until yesterday it did not happen on my Windows 10 PC. (I am a long-term TikZ user.) Also, the file compiles perfectly, I can open and close the PDF outside txs. TeXstudio only crashes when I close the viewer or close the program.

Edit: I've realised that datavisualization doesn't work the way I thought it did, so I have uploaded a new .tex file that creates the correct picture (for the avoidance of my shame). However, the problem with TeXstudio crashing remains. I just don't use the previewer. Also problem does NOT happen in the previewer if I don't use TikZ.

Couldn't find a temp directory. Here's a VS stacktrace of sorts...

This is what the plot should produce

Interestingly, in this case, there's no backtrace generated.

It's an error in a cleanup routine of synctex. If you delete the .synctex.gz file before viewing the pdf the error is gone.

As a workaround, you may switch off synctex by removing the corresponding parameter from the pdflatex call.
