When I open a project, I see in the navigation panel an outline of the document: the tree of sections and tables. When I edit the document, this outline remains unchanged when I add text, add sections, delete sections, etc. When I double-click a section or table in the outline pane, it brings the cursor where that section was when I opened the document, many hours ago. After compiling nothing changes. Closing and open TeXnicCenter results in updated view, which then again does not change as I edit the document.

System: Windows 7 Professional Spanish edition.

Clicking on Save All does update the Outline panel. Strangely, in compiling the files are supposed to be saved, but it does not update the Outline navigation panel. Also, I have "Save automatically every 1 minute" set, but the Outline panel stays without update for many hours.

I noticed this behavior if one of the project's LaTeX files was edited outside of TeXnicCenter. In such a case the editor asks if the file should be reloaded but the navigation panel is not updated.

The described problem cannot be reproduced using the latest version of TeXnicCenter.

I have the exact same problem Alexander describes with the latest version (beta 2) of TeXnic Center. Two different computers, different project, one ist running the 32 bit, the other the 64 bit version of TC. The problem occurs even with a new project and a fresh installation of TC.
(The problem is not limited to the outline window, but also the other "tool windows"

Tino: Could you give as an idea, how to document or track down this problem?

I have the same problem. Using TeXnic Center 2.0 (Beta) 64 bit. It used to work until today, I was setting up makeindex etc and now the outline does not update until restart of the program. Tried to reverse all the setting but no help. The TOC in the file itself is updated as usually.

Tried also with a new project, no help.

Hi, please install the latest version and then check the Parse output: View | Tool Windows | Parse. You can trigger parsing by saving a file, or explicitly in the Project menu.

    Hi, Tino!
Is there any way to parse automatically before building? Apparently the parsing take no time at all. Shouldn't be a problem to include this as an option in the "project properties", should it?

I would very much appreciate this.

    Tino,

the problem is that manual saving triggers the parsing, but the automatic saving before building does not. Is that on purpose?
