The announcements on www.texniccenter.org are somewhat inaccurate. This will frustrate many new users. The solution is so easy!
First it reads:
"TeXnicCenter integrates all the functionality you need to create, write, build, fix, view and print your LaTeX documents."
New users reaction reading that:
"Perfect. I install it and there I go!". Then after installation "please provide path to latex executables". "Man, did I just install an integrated solution or what?!" -> "Stupid TeXnicCenter".
So please add to frontpage that a LaTeX compiler like MiKTeX is required. And don't write that you can build and view LaTeX documents with merely TeXniCenter as that phrase on the starting page suggests.
Secondly, on the download page:
"This is the list of downloads required for a TeXnicCenter installation."
Again nothing mentioned about a compiler which is required.
I stress again, new users need to compile and see their first small LaTeX document right away. They need to start with a success. So please write FOR EVERYBODY VISIBLE that you better first install MiKTeX (or any other compiler).
