I tried to change the colours in texniccenter 2 alpha 2, so that the background became black, and the text became white. I am however not able to change the colour of the text-cursor (the one showing where I am writing)... It is therefore totally invisible and almost impossible to see where you are in the document.
Please fix this issue!

In general, we need to take more care of the coloring of Scintilla.
The described error has been added to the official bug list.
Thank you for your report.
I also thought that it could be a good idea to make different color themes to choose from, such that the users don't have to define colors for so many different items.
Hi,
is there any progress on this bug? Other scintilla-based projects do not suffer this problem and it is currently the only issue holding me back from moving to TexnicCenter2...
Thanks for the effort!

No progress on this one. We need a developer to help with this. Anyone?
Another user writes:
I normally use light text on dark background (much easier on the eyes) and
I noticed a few abnormalities with the new (TxC Alpha 2) editor and its syntax highlighting:
1) Cursor is always black. There is no way to change its colour, nor does it change the colour automatically as in TxC1. The cursor is therefore invisible on dark background.
2) There is no way to change the background colour of Units. They appear as annoying white rectangles amidst otherwise dark background.
3) Colour for matching brackets is ignored (always black).
4) No option provided to switch off the bold font in environments' names.
5) In math mode, there is some weird syntax highlighting that is apparently not configurable, e.g. brackets () are red for some reason. There is no option to change that(?)

I'm also very much looking forward to this fix. Writing for long periods while looking straight into a lamp (ie: monitor backlight) is giving me killer eyestrain.
Some new status on this problem?
