A nice usability feature would be to use the current font size where the cursor is instead of requiring it to be specified separately in TexMaths.

Yes, it could be an option in the configure menu. Don't know if it's really useful : usually, in document that contains maths, the font size doesn't change all the time, I think...
Anyway, thanks for the idea.
