how likely would it be to have some kind of syntax highlighting? specially for matching brackets.
the latex syntax highlighting used in gedit might give a head start.
It would be a must have. However, The LibreOffice / OpenOffice basic API seems to be too limited to do this.
I think it would involve a complete rewriting of TexMaths in another language...
