[testopia-users] setting up a complex test programme

Hi there
I want to use Bugzilla and Testopia to manage the testing and defect process for a large complex programme.
It's not a pure IT programme so we'll be raising defects on construction (civil engineering), mechanical systems, electronic systems and IT systems.

I'm responsible for Systems Integration testing which basically covers end to end process based testing across multiple areas of the facility, process and systems (IT, mechanical and electrical).

The problem I have in my sandpit for bugzilla and testopia is that I seem to be limited to creating a test plan against a product, when what I'd really prefer to do is to create a test plan and test cases that span multiple, or all, products. 

I still need to be able to raise individual defects against products and components.

I've seen discussion when googling this type of issue on additional levels of items in bugzilla e.g. a sub-component or a higher level product, so I guess this problem has been encountered a number of times.
What I couldn't find was a simple explanation of how to work round this issue ....

So, here's hoping someone has a "dummies guide" for me!
