Issue 4186 removed the feature that was added for issue 3286.  What could use documenting instead is issue 4204.  Sorry for not recording this earlier.

We can make a cut-C style (as in issue 3286) by overriding the stencil, as in

and making a new style is not any easier than making the new stencil,
