I followed the above steps but it had no effect - I still am asked for a password with ssh'ing to my TNAS server as a user that I added to the system. Any other things to try?

There are several kernel modules that include a "license=GPL" string. But some of them are not included in the GPL_TNAS_X86/linux-4.0 directory. I would be particularly interested in the led_drv.ko module.

Hello Cole, login as root with your password and type: vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config then change this line: UsePrivilegeSeparation sandbox to: UsePrivilegeSeparation no save and close file, then restart sshd with: /etc/init.d/sshd restart now put your key into authorized_keys: echo "ssh-rsa your public key" >> /home/admin/.ssh/authorized_keys enjoy!
