This may or may not seem an odd request, but
perhaps you shall understand my wishes and hopefully
grant me thus. I am a large fan of your modification to
the quake source. I am not a quake1 fanatic, nay i've
only played the game multiplayer once in my life. I do
enjoy the single palyer rather quite a bit but only in
the most odd manner. I enjoy listening to Phantom of
the Opera and other classical compositions as i go to
sleep at night under the warm glow of tenebrae looping
the default demos. I map for half-life based games and
have an eye for game developing but no experience in
programming. Now to my point. It seems that you somehow
just use the default map entities as lightsources for
realtime lights. I noticed that you can control the
number of origional map lights through the manipulation
of the radius scale in the gui launcher. Adding more
lights is all well and good but my simple problem is
that I like having all the lights in the map but have
no way of turning down their brightness, which is
excessive when all origional lights are kept. This
makes the game look far different then the origional
maps lighting leaving the only option as having a lower
number of lights (.3 - .4) The problem with this is
that there ends up being no lighting at all in some
locations. I am requesting that if it is possible you
would somehow incorperate a variable to change the
brightness (not the radius) of the lights in the game.
I'm sure this could be incorperated somehow and would
really like to see it done because the modifications
you've made to the source thus far seem to be with the
directive of not changing the origional game
atmosphere/functionality. I think that this is the only
area that has yet to be adressed in achieving this
seemingly apparent objective. I also have a question...
is there any way to make the variable
"sh_lightmapbright" stay at a specific setting and not
change after the demo restarts? I like the
lightmapbright lower then your default but binding a
key to change it is useless when it resets itself upon
a death, map reload ect.

I hope i'm not bothering you too much or that you won't
think my suggestions too picky.

Lastly thank you for the work you've done thus far, I'm
looking forward to hardware in teh enxt year that will
be finally able to run stencil shadow scenes properly
and am looking forward to tenebrae @ 0 redius scale and
lightmapbright 0 when I upgrade, it would be nice to be
able to tone down the brightness of the lights themselves.

Thanks again and have a merry christmas!
