No

The vast majority of headings (div/head) in the Guidelines use title case, but there is a minority that are in sentence case. I propose that we:

  1. Make our minds up about which we should settle on.

  2. Make all existing headings consistent with the decision.

  3. Document it in the Guidelines style guide (http://www.tei-c.org/Activities/Council/Working/tcw24.xml), which has no mention of the issue.

The Journal specifies title case, but personally I prefer sentence case. Consistency is the most important thing, though.

I prefer sentence case too. But Michael SpMcQ insisted that title case Was The Right Way To Do It. So those that are in sentence case must be ones that sneaked in after the Sage of Oak Park had moved on. And yes, I agree consistency is to be aimed for.

Chicago is ambivalent about sentence case vs title case, but its lengthy screed on the difficulties of determining exactly what to capitalize in the latter provides another good argument for sentence case. I vote for change.

Guidelines changes committed in three batches up to rev 12923. Still have to update the style guide.

TCW 24 updated to include title case for headings. Closing the ticket.
