The second example here:
and the commentary on it is rather nonsensical. There is no @rend attribute in the TEI namespace because TEI attributes are defined without a prefix, and therefore in the empty-string namespace. This means that it is impossible to distinguish between the "real" TEI @rend attribute and the one which appears on elements which are in the TEI Examples namespace; in fact they are the same thing.
Since there is probably nobody in the world (including the TEI) who is attempting to distinguish TEI @rend[namespace-uri(.)=""] attributes from putative but actually non-existent @rend[namespace-uri(.) = 'http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0'] attributes on elements in the TEI Examples namespace, I suggest we simply delete this example, along with the preceding and following lines of commentary.
