#616 <cit> and <quote> not allowed within <summary>

For some reason, the <cit> and <quote> elements do not seem to be allowed within the paragraph-level <summary> element used in various descriptions in the teiHeader. This seems illogical as they are allowed in many other similar contexts within the header and there seems to be no reason why quotations from sources should not be allowed within a summery description of some manuscript feature. As to whether only the <cit> element containing both the quote and a source reference or also a plain <quote> element should be allowed in this context, I defer to your expertise, but I feel there should definitely be a way of citing sources within a summary.

The same problem seems to apply to <signatures>, which also does not allow citations or quotes, although it would seem logical to do so.

Council agrees, with some reservations, to change the content of <summary> from macro.phraseSeq to macro.specialPara.

Re-opening: OP also requested the same for <signatures> which we did not do. Did Council discuss that in Oxford 2014-06-30 and decide not to, or did we simply overlook this?

I can't recall whether we discussed this in Oxford but I'd say since "<signatures> contains discussion of the leaf or quire signatures found within a codex" that qualifies for <cit> and <quote>, ergo macro.specialPara.

We re-opened this bug [https://sourceforge.net/p/tei/bugs/616/] in order to discuss it's first comment. Syd, Peter and I all think that <cit> and <quote> should be allowed within <signatures> - as Council agreed for <summary> - for the same reasons. I will make the change and close the bug if there are no objections within the next three days."
