Hello Tcpreplay dev group. Thank you Aaron for the glowing introduction, and thank you for everything you have done in the last dozen years. I have some big shoes to fill in my new role as Tcpreplay maintainer. But I have the advantage of having the support of my entire company, AppNeta. Many of our engineering team, from developers to support have expressed an interest in working on this amazing project, and many have already contributed. With your support, and the support of our company I think I can do this. I'm not well known in the Tcpreplay community and I will not go into too many details of my background. As Aaron always says, that's what Google is for. I hope that my work will speak for itself. Suffice to say that I am all about high performance, be it in software, applications or the network. It is my passion for this subject that led to me co-founding AppNeta. My background is primarily as an application and network performance troubleshooter, but now I mainly do research and really cool projects (like this). At work I am happiest when I am developing Linux kernel modules. When not working I commute a marathon distance most days on my bicycle, and strive to make better beer and wine than you can buy. I am married for 29 years, have two daughters, and they all accept the long hours I put in. Enough of that. Time to try to show you what I have been working on. I am happy to make a few announcements: Firstly we are working on a new wiki http://tcpreplay.appneta.com. This is a work-in-progress site and we are not simply doing copy/paste from the old site. We expect the content to be fully updated in the next 3-4 weeks. Secondly, the GitHub source code repository has now moved to https://github.com/appneta/tcpreplay. If your not sure how to download, please visit our new wiki. Finally, I am excited to announce our first software release, version 4.0.0 Beta 1. It brings together several features from the existing 4.0.0 Alpha 1 branch, but also contains several of our expanded capabilities and increased performance, including: * 10GigE wire-speed replay rates when using netmap network drivers http://info.iet.unipi.it/~luigi/netmap/ * IP Flow statistics * Near-zero overhead option for generating unique flows every loop iteration * High accuracy, high performance --mbps option * Pseudo-CRC to avoid CRC recalcuations and improve performance tcpreplay-edit * API for other Open Source projects * Deprecation of redundant and obolete options * ARM and PPC support including cross-compile support * Overhaul of timestamp methodology in main TX loop to maximize performance * Switch from BSD to GPLv3 license Details of the new release are here http://tcpreplay.appneta.com/tcpreplay/news/2013/12/20/4-0-beta1.html Details on how to download and install are available here http://tcpreplay.appneta.com/content/download.html Thank you, and I look forward to working with this group.
