I am working on WSDL generation within TCLSoap. Has anyone done soothing similar to this already? I want to release this code to the tclsoap project if it is deemed worthwhile. Please comment! Here's the plan: 1) Maintain a list of functions to export, along with their return types & = input parameters in some data structure. 2) Iterate thru the functions and create a unique TCL namespace for each one = (so Foo becomes the TCL command TestService::Foo). 3) Expose the WSDL parameters/return types AND 3b) Expose the functions with SOAP::export. I have code that does this already. 1) I now need to integrate the rcpvar:* types =20 2) Modify the rpcvar::typdef function to return the list of user defined = types. 3) Iterate thru the list of user defined types 4) create a complexType for each type defined by rcpvar::typedef 5) build the <schema><complexType>... portion of the WSDL with this info. |

There is some code (that might even work...) in the CVS repository. This project has not been abandoned - I do intend to resurrect it and put some life into it. However, it has been waiting on getting the infrastructure into place (TclXML/libxml2, et al) and I have been working on another project (content management) in the meantime. > http://xml.coverpages.org/swish10a2-19990121.html (link to download > page gives > "403 Forbidden") > > in vain. The Windows binaries were built using MS Visual Studio 2003 .NET and require an additional DLL - mscvr71.dll. Now,I don't know what the story is for redistributing that DLL, so rather than expose myself to the wrath of M$' legal department I decided to leave it out. Unfortunately, I forgot to document that dependency :-( Handy hint: I have included the DLL in the tkxmllint and tkxsltproc applications, so download the Windows version of either of them (or both!) and grab it from there if you can't find the DLL anywhere else. Hi Larry, The MS Windows build of TclXML/libxml2 (and TclDOM/libxml2, TclXSLT) statically links the libxml2 library. Of course, that's a completely different build system. Has anyone tried to/successfully built TclXML/libxml2 statically on Linux or some other *nix? Cheers, Steve Ball On 14/07/2004, at 10:46 PM, Larry W. I'm trying to work around a version conflict that my users are encountering on SPARC Solaris machines. So I thought that I might just add a flag to link -lxml2 into tclxml statically. Hi Larry, Bugger! I hadn't run autoconf in the expat directory. I'll do that for the (inevitable) 3.0.1 release. You can run it for yourself to make it work correctly (as long as you use autoconf v2.13). Cheers, Steve Ball On 13/07/2004, at 12:14 PM, Larry W. TclXML, TclDOM and TclXSLT version 3.0 are now available. TclXML is a package that provides XML parsing for the Tcl scripting language. It has three implementations of XML parsers: one written purely in Tcl and wrappers for the expat and Gnome libxml2 C libraries. New features of version 3.0 of the TclXML package include the introduction of the libxml2 library. TclDOM is a package that implements the W3C DOM interfaces for the Tcl scripting language. It also has three implementations: one written purely in Tcl, one written in C and a wrapper for the Gnome libxml2 C library. New features of the version 3.0 of the TclDOM package include major re-engineering to eliminate a serious bug in the use of the libxml2 library, as well as new API features such as node Tcl commands. TclXSLT is a package that provides a Tcl interface to the Gnome libxslt C library. Sources, and binaries for Mac OS X (Panther) and MS Windows, are available now. These packages may be downloaded from the TclXML website: http://tclxml.sourceforge.net/ Enjoy, Steve Ball Zveno Pty Ltd http://www.zveno.com/ --- Steve Ball | XSLT Standard Library | Training & Seminars Zveno Pty Ltd | Web Tcl Complete | XML XSL Schemas http://www.zveno.com/ | TclXML TclDOM | Tcl, Web Development Ste...@zv... +---------------------------+--------------------- Ph. +61 2 6242 4099 | Mobile (0413) 594 462 | Fax +61 2 6242 4099 |

I have successfully compiled, installed and loaded TclXML/libxml2 on Mac OS X and MS Windows XP/2K. In both cases this is with libxml2-2.6.9 (btw the structured error handling was introduced circa 2.6.6). I'll be building on Linux ASAP to complete pre-release testing. All I can suggest is that you submit a bug report. Please include platform details so I can try and isolate the problem. Cheers, Steve Ball On 02/06/2004, at 1:45 AM, Larry W. Okay, so I'm trying to get tclxml 3.0b2's xml::libxml2 built and installed. The configure runs, the C code compiles, a library is created, and the install script installs. No problem, right? Alas, here's what I see when I try to use it: $ tclsh % package require xml::libxml2 couldn't load file "/volws/lwv26/ldatae/tcl84/lib/TclXML_libxml23.0/libTclXML_libxml23.0g.so": ld.so.1: tclsh: fatal: relocation error: file /volws/lwv26/ldatae/tcl84/lib/TclXML_libxml23.0/libTclXML_libxml23.0g.so: symbol xmlTextReaderSetStructuredErrorHandler: referenced symbol not found % The symbol is indeed listed as unresolved. But the symbol, a function, appears in libxml2/libxml2-2.6.9/xmlreader.c and that file is compiled and appears in the libxml2.a that is created. The libxml2.so file doesn't have a dependency on a missing shared library. So I can't figure out WHY there's an unresolved error. Anyone have any ideas? -- Tcl - The glue of a new generation. <URL: http://wiki.tcl.tk/ > Larry W. Can anyone explain the strategy in tclxml installing some things into $prefix/lib/tclxml3.0 and others into $prefix/lib/Tclxml3.0 ? The reason I ask is because I'm seeing something peculiar. I'm using the tclxml 3.0b2 as downloaded today from sf.net. I am building on SPARC Solaris 8, using Tcl/Tk 8.4.6 . So far, here's what I have done. 1. tried to use wish install.tcl and found it would not run. 2. did a configure, make , and make install on the code in the top level directory. 3. then did a wish install.tcl and that worked 4. then cd'd into the tclxml/expat directory, did a configure, make and install. Now I see this: $ tclsh % package require xml::expat couldn't load file "/volws/lwv26/ldatae/tcl84/lib/tclxml3.0/libTclxml3.0g.so": ld.so.1: tclsh: fatal: /volws/lwv26/ldatae/tcl84/lib/tclxml3.0/libTclxml3.0g.so: open failed: No such file or directory % The reason for this is that the error shows that the .so is being sought in the tclxml3.0 directory, when it really resides in the Tclxml3.0 directory. Is this the consequence of an installation bug, or some other problem? -- Tcl - The glue of a new generation. <URL: http://wiki.tcl.tk/ > Larry W. I install the latest tclxml download. I start up a tclsh from tcl 8.4.6 . I type in package require xml and I get version conflict for package "xml::tcl": have 3.0, need 2.6 -- Tcl - The glue of a new generation. <URL: http://wiki.tcl.tk/ > Larry W. Hi, I've installed the 3.0b2 release of the XML/DOM/XSL tools and have run into a problem with 'segmentation fault' crashes when trying to validate a document. A simple example is included below. What am I doing wrong? My setup is: Slackware Linux 9.1 Tcl 8.4.5 (built from source). libxml2 2.6.9 (built from source). Tcl XML/DOM/XSL 3.0b2 (built from source). As a cross-check, I also tried it on a NetBSD-Sparc system and got the same crash. Regards, George === begin sample script === # validate.tcl -- # # Test script to illustrate 'Segmentation fault' when validating # a document. # Derived from TclDOM 3.0b2 tests/validate.text. package require xml 3.0 package require dom 3.0 set inst [dom::libxml2::parse {<!DOCTYPE Test [ <!ELEMENT Test (#PCDATA)> ]> <Test>This is a valid document</Test> }] $inst dtd validate dom::destroy $inst exit 0 === end script === |

While puzzling over the tcldom libxml2 error, I decided to go ahead and install the tcldom pure tcl version. However, when I try, I get an error saying that tcldom requires xml version 2.6. However, the README says that if one is installing tcldom 3.0 that one should also install tcl xml 3.0 ... -- Tcl - The glue of a new generation. <URL: http://wiki.tcl.tk/ > Larry W.
