I found the problem, thanks to a neat routine provided by Joe English (maybe
it should be part of the std Tcl environment!)

Anyways, what it showed me was that there was still a bogus dom::c installed
from a TclDOM 2.5 release that was installed.  Once I cleared that out,
the proper dom::c was found.
