But where to get a version newer than 1.4 for Linux? I only found 1.5 for sunos and freebsd. Thanks, __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com |

I just installed tclpro successfully on linux7.0 by changing "uzpln86" with a new copy of unzip. However, prodebug could not start. Whenever I type "prodebug", it gives such errors: Error in startup script: invalid command name "console" while executing "# Compiled -- no source code available error "called a copy of a compiled script"" invoked from within "tbcload::bceval { TclPro ByteCode 1 0 1.3 8.3 20 0 197 54 0 0 124 0 8 20 20 -1 -1 197 w0E<!-fSs!)?W<!,Ki<!0W&=!?Gtl#=_kUv1oJ=!M^e*'3&|=!N1mf%?XW?!w3E<..." (file "startup.tbc" line 15) Anybody knows what does this mean? Why this happens? And how I can get it work? Thanks. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I see that noone has responded to this. Well, I can say with definite certainty that building TclPro on Windows is not trivial. You might be able to do one or two tools separately, or adapt the sources for another project, but TclPro really is a beast. That is a good part of the value that ActiveState provides, in addition to bug fixes, updates and the like. Jeff Hobbs The Tcl Guy Senior Developer http://www.ActiveState.com/ |

Hmmm... This is a known problem and should be ansewerd on google... Ah, here it is, from Scott Redman: This is a known problem, it's due to the uzpln86 using an old libc or glibc, which you don't have. You should have a program called "unzip" on your linux install, here is what you do: cd /home/user/dld/tclpro1.4/unix/ mv uzpln86 uzpln86.orig ln -s <path-to-unzip>/unzip ./uzpln86 Now try it again. -- Scott -- Laurent Duperval <mailto:lau...@ma...> "Computer science is a question of choosing the correct wrench to pound in the right screw." -Someone |

I am sorry to pollute the developer mailing list. I still have problems with the installation. I finally checked the Doc page on the sourceforge web page, and following all instructions, I finally get all the compilation to work. Unfortunately, prodebug - which is my primary interest - does not work. When I do the following: > prodebug ./prodebug: /usr/local/src/TclPro/tclpro/linux-ix86/out/linux-ix86/bin/prodebug.bin: No such file or directory ./prodebug: exec: /usr/local/src/TclPro/tclpro/linux-ix86/out/linux-ix86/bin/prodebug.bin: cannot execute: No such file or directory Effectively, the file prodebug.bin does not exist anywhere... What can I do? I tried to compile with a binary tclpro distribution, so I got the file tclpro141.linux.tar.gz, but I was unable to make the script setup.sh to work. It outputs: > ./setup.sh Installer error: couldn't execute no such file or directory while executing "exec $unzip -Zt [FindFile $src $file" (procedure "install::calculateSizeAndCount" line 10) invoked from within "install::calculateSizeAndCount $::installImageRoot" (procedure "gui::showWindow" line 24) invoked from within "gui::showWindow" Please notice that the file "/usr/local/src/tclpro1.4/unix/uzpln86" exists... Well, I do not know what I did wrong this time. But it looks like I lost my day working on those things. I would like not to give another day to it. Please help! Thomas |

Hi, I have several errors with insallation of TclPro, and I do not know how to fix them 1) cvs: I attach the file TclProCheckout.log which was produced with the command line > tclsh tclpro/TclProCheckout.tcl -user your_sf_login_name The errors were produced during the connection to the cvs repository. What should I conclude? That files are missing? Do I need to worry about those error messages? 2) configure: I assume that next step is to run autoconf, since no configure file is in the directory tclpro. with the command: >../configure --enable-gcc -with-memchandir=... --with-setopdir=.. etc... I attached the config.log file, just for check. 3) I have finally an error during compilation. So I attached the make.log in order to know if you can help me with it. Thank you very much for your help. Thomas Deschamps Loginon sourceforge: thot |

Call For Papers 9th Annual Tcl/Tk Conference September 16-20, 2002 Vancouver, BC, Canada We are pleased to announce the 9th Annual Tcl/Tk conference, to be held September 16-20, 2002, in Vancouver, BC, Canada. This conference is a forum to: * bring together Tcl/Tk researchers and practitioners * publish and present current work involving Tcl/Tk * learn about the latest developments in Tcl/Tk * plan for future Tcl/Tk related developments The conference program will include paper presentations, tutorials, Birds of a Feather (BOF) sessions and invited key-note talks. This call invites you to submit extended abstracts to be considered for the conference program. The conference schedule will consist of 2 days of tutorials (Monday - Tuesday) and 3 days for the main conference (Wednesday - Friday). Submission of Extended Abstracts The conference provides an opportunity to report on original Tcl/Tk research. The audience is practitioners and researchers who are intermediate or experienced users of Tcl/Tk. For this reason, reports on experiences and applications must draw out lessons for other Tcl/Tk developers. Topics include, but are not limited to: * System extensions * Novel Tcl/Tk-based applications * Experience reports on building applications in Tcl/Tk * Comparative evaluations of Tcl/Tk and other languages or toolkits for building applications * Use of different programming paradigms in Tcl/Tk and proposals for new directions. * New areas of exploration for the Tcl/Tk language Extended Abstracts should be written in English and 600 to 1000 words long (1-2 pages). Omit extraneous or redundant information. Length is not a direct factor in judging the quality of the submission. Send submissions as plain text to <tcl2002@-SPAM-.tcl.tk> no later than April 28, 2002. Authors of accepted abstracts will have until August 20, 2002 to submit their final paper for the inclusion in the conference proceedings. The proceedings will be made available on CD-ROM, so extra materials like code samples are welcome. The authors will have 20-25 minutes to present the paper at the conference. The program committee will review and evaluate papers according to the following criteria: * Quantity and quality of novel content * Relevance and interest to the Tcl/Tk community * Suitability of content for presentation at the conference Proposals may report on commercial or non-commercial systems, but those with only blatant marketing content will not be accepted. Application and experience papers need to strike a balance between background on the application domain and the relevance of Tcl/Tk to the application. Application and experience papers should clearly explain how the application or experience illustrates a novel use of Tcl/Tk, and what lessons the Tcl/Tk community can derive from the application or experience to apply to their own development efforts. Papers accompanied by non-disclosure agreement forms will be returned to the author(s) unread. All submissions are held in the highest confidentiality prior to publication in the Proceedings, both as a matter of policy and in accord with the U. S. Copyright Act of 1976. Other Forms of Participation The program committee also welcomes proposals for panel discussions of up to 90 minutes. Proposals should include a list of confirmed panelists, a title and format, and a panel description with position statements from each panelist. Panels should have no more than four speakers, including the panel moderator, and should allow time for substantial interaction with attendees. Panels are not presentations of related research papers. Slots for Works-in-Progress (WIP) presentations and Birds-of-a-Feather sessions (BOFs) are available on a first-come, first-served basis starting in August 2002. Specific instructions for reserving WIP and BOF time slots will be provided in the registration information available in June 2002. Some WIP and BOF time slots will be held open for on-site reservation, so we encourage all attendees with interesting work in progress to consider presenting that work at the conference. Registration Information More information on the conference will be available in Spring 2002 at the conference web site (http://www.tcl.tk/community/tcl2002/) and published on various Tcl/Tk-related information channels. To keep in touch with conference announcements and Tcl events in general, subscribe to the tcl-announce list at: http://listserv.activestate.com/mailman/mysubs?show=announce by entering your email and selecting Tcl-announce. To follow up on your particular case, that must be with an older nub.tcl, because I see that 'string range' is used with 'end' (which is ok in 8.0, but not for 'string index') with an extra comment to that effect, in the currently nub.tcl. Jeff Brent Welch wrote: ... > For folks that can build TclPro from sources, it looks like > nub.tcl has some 8.1'isms in there that prevent TclPro from > being used with 8.0 applications. Brent, That's not correct. 8.0 accepted a pure 'end', but not the 'end[+-integer]' form, but there are none of the latter in nub.tcl. There was one IIRC, but that was fixed. The TclPro 1.5.0.1 that we ship should work fine with 8.0. For folks that can build TclPro from sources, it looks like nub.tcl has some 8.1'isms in there that prevent TclPro from being used with 8.0 applications. The "debug nub" is a bit of code that is injected into the target application. Brent |

I am super busy at the moment, but you might find someone on the tcl...@li... mailing list to help. >>>"William J. Update of /cvsroot/tclpro/proshells In directory usw-pr-cvs1:/tmp/cvs-serv26908 Modified Files: ChangeLog Log Message: * common/proAppInit.c: Changed the order in which files are included. [Incr Tcl] defines its own EXTERN macro which messes up all packages which expect the EXTERN macro from tcl itself. Moved its inclusion to the end of the list. This problem was found when building the big shells. |
