I don't know that there will ever be any more plugin development for
MacOS8/9, but the next generation plugin, which you can read more
about by reviewing this lists archives

may find itself an OS X champion sometime.  I guess an OS9 champion
could appear as well, but it seems most developers focus solely on
OS X now.  At this time, the 3.0 alpha does not work on Mac at all.
