I would like to see alternatives to manpage_*. Or at least
do not require all the arguments.
- "section" is a unixism that should not be required in a
general package. It just clutters and confuses those who
don't know what it means.
- "version" is nice but ought to be optional
- "command" is ok for manpage_begin but there should
be other ways of starting a page as it would make the
doctools package more generic which would be a good
thing.

I can agree with section. For version I am less sure, it will
come in again in the [require] statements. ... It is correct that
manpages not dealing directly with a package, overviews and
the like, care less about a version.
Instead of 'command' maybe call it 'title'. Have to think a bit
more.
What other ways of starting a page do you envision ?
I wish a report could be assigned to more than one person.
This is also something Joe English is interested in. guess I'll
refer him to these items by mail.
