I had to switch to Suse 9.1, finally for the first time
since I've had this laptop, I installed something and
it worked out of the box. I've installed tclkeymon,
and it works..except after I run the start-tclkeymon
program, it goes bright for about 10 seconds then goes
dim again. If it would just stay bright, it would be
perfect. I looked in the tclkeymon.log file, but don't
see anything of significance (just the output of a
failed attempt to run the program before I had it
    configured correctly.)

For Suse 9.1, I did have to change the xscreensaver
    file path in tclkeymon from
    /usr/bin/xscreensaver-command to
    /usr/X11R6/bin/xscreenserver-command

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Tim

It looks like the BIOS on that machine is resetting the brightness (similar to what happens with the fan).  I'll include the brightness level in the polling loop for the next release, along with a path search for xscreensaver-command.  I should have it ready within a week (tied up with other things right now).

The changes have been released in tclkeymon-0.42.  Let me know if you have a problem, as a did this rather quickly, and with only minimal testing (changed functions only, no full regression).
