The problem seems to be that $beanList does not have an array signature. 

puts [ $beanList toString ] generates 
"[WebSphere:name=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]".  I would assume that the 
"[]" indicate an array.

[$beanList length] generates "no accessible method "length" in class 
java.util.Set"
