This year is the fourth year that the Tcl community is participating
in the Google Summer of Code. The conference program committee would
like to encourage submissions that report on the Tcl projects selected
for Google SoC 2011.
Submissions should consist of an abstract of about 100 words and a
summary of not more than two pages, and should be sent as plain text
to <tclconference AT googlegroups DOT com> no later than August 26,
2011. Authors of accepted abstracts will have until October 9, 2011
to submit their final paper for the inclusion in the conference
proceedings. The proceedings will be made available on digital media,

Tcl/Tk 2010 will be held in Chicago/Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois USA
from October 11 - 15, 2010. The program committee is asking for papers
and presentation proposals from anyone using or developing with Tcl/Tk
(and extensions). Past conferences have seen submissions covering a
wide variety of topics including:
* Scientific and engineering applications
* Industrial controls
* Distributed applications and Network Managment
* Object oriented extensions to Tcl/Tk
* New widgets for Tk
* Simulation and application steering with Tcl/Tk
* Tcl/Tk-centric operating environments
* Tcl/Tk on small and embedded devices
* Medical applications and visualization
* Use of different programming paradigms in Tcl/Tk and proposals for new
directions.
* New areas of exploration for the Tcl/Tk language
This year is the third year that the Tcl community is participating in
the Google Summer of Code. The conference program committee would
like to encourage submissions that report on the Tcl projects selected
for Google SoC 2010.
Submissions should consist of an abstract of about 100 words and a
summary of not more than two pages, and should be sent as plain text
to <tclconference AT googlegroups DOT com> no later than August 15,
2010. Authors of accepted abstracts will have until October 1, 2010 to
submit their final paper for the inclusion in the conference
proceedings. The proceedings will be made available on digital media,
so extra materials such as presentation slides, code examples, code
for extensions etc. are encouraged.
Printed proceedings will be produced as an on-demand book at lulu.com
The authors will have 25 minutes to present their paper at the
conference.
The program committee will review and evaluate papers according to the
following criteria:
* Quantity and quality of novel content
* Relevance and interest to the Tcl/Tk community
* Suitability of content for presentation at the conference
Proposals may report on commercial or non-commercial systems, but
those with only blatant marketing content will not be accepted.
Application and experience papers need to strike a balance between
background on the application domain and the relevance of Tcl/Tk to
the application. Application and experience papers should clearly
explain how the application or experience illustrates a novel use of
Tcl/Tk, and what lessons the Tcl/Tk community can derive from the
application or experience to apply to their own development efforts.
Papers accompanied by non-disclosure agreements will be returned to
the author(s) unread. All submissions are held in the highest
confidentiality prior to publication in the Proceedings, both as a
matter of policy and in accord with the U. S. Copyright Act of 1976.
The primary author for each accepted paper will receive registration
to the Technical Sessions portion of the conference at a reduced rate.
Other Forms of Participation
The program committee also welcomes proposals for panel discussions of
up to 90 minutes. Proposals should include a list of confirmed
panelists, a title and format, and a panel description with position
statements from each panelist. Panels should have no more than four
speakers, including the panel moderator, and should allow time for
substantial interaction with attendees. Panels are not presentations
of related research papers.
Slots for Works-in-Progress (WIP) presentations and Birds-of-a-Feather
sessions (BOFs) are available on a first-come, first-served basis
starting in August 1, 2010. Specific instructions for reserving WIP
and BOF time slots will be provided in the registration information
available in June 2010. Some WIP and BOF time slots will be held open
for on-site reservation. All attendees with an interesting work in
progress should consider reserving a WIP slot.

Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, http://www.fnal.gov/
A tour lasts about two hours and begins in Wilson Hall. Visitors view
the Laboratory from the 15th floor windows and visit various displays
located there. The tour moves to the Linear Accelerator building where
visitors see the Cockcroft-Walton, the components in the linear
accelerator gallery and the Main Control Room. There is a docent for
every 20 people. Registration required since tours must be arranged in
advance.

Hi, I am using tclhttpd3.5.1 on a linux system and posting a message using curl from client side: curl -0 -d @mesg.xml --capath /etc -H SOAPAction:process --url https://<server-ip>:8016 <https://%3cserver-ip%3e:8016/> I am able to post the message successfully at tclhttpd server, but not sure how I can verify the contents of the message (mesg.xml file) at httpd server. Is there a way to change the default location of the tclhttpd.default
file without modifying the code in auth.tcl?
I tried doing something like the following in tclhttd.rc:
Config AuthDefaultFile [file normalize [file join ~ tmp tclhttpd.default]]
The problem is that the global Config array is not updated with
parameters from tclhttpd.rc via config::init, only config::config seems
to be updated.
Setting any of AuthUserFile, AuthGroupFile or AuthDefaultFile has no
effect on the following tests in auth.tcl:
# set default user/group files
if {![info exists Config(AuthUserFile)]} {
set Config(AuthUserFile) default
}
if {![info exists Config(AuthGroupFile)]} {
set Config(AuthGroupFile) default
}
if {![info exists Config(AuthDefaultFile)]} {
set Config(AuthDefaultFile) /tmp/tclhttpd.default
}
I was able to get this to work by adding the following line to
config::init:
array set TheirConfig [interp eval $i {array get Config}]
This updates ::Config which causes auth.tcl to use the values I've set
in tclhttpd.rc. Is this a bug/feature or is there something else I've
missed which causes this not to work as expected?

I have just gotten httpd up and running. Clicking around on the default home page, I have run into a couple of things that have me wondering if I have everything configured correctly. When I click on the pages under "Test Pages", I am getting the actual tcl code displayed, instead of its generated output. Is this what is supposed to happen, or do I not have something set up correctly? I just want to make sure everything is as it should be before I get started playing around with the server. I have also created a page x.tml with the following code: [Doc_Dynamic] The time now is: [clock format [clock seconds]] When I browse to the page, all I get is the code rather than the proper output. I just added a certificate from starcom into my site. I made it work with a very simple "hack" into the code due a passphrase i set into the key file, adding a tsl::password procedure in the section where the ssl is tested. now, how can i set a ssl certificate for a specific virtual service instead of setting it globaly? Also, is there a way to set a diferent path for htdocs and libs for an ssl request instead of use the common ones? Regards, -=Raul=- |

Sending again ... I think this can be accomplished with tclhttpd provided that you have the site's names resolving to your server. Look at the env(REQUEST_URI) variable from within the root .tml and disambiguate the various requests. Once they have met your requirements use a Doc_Redirect to their actual home page. It's not a really easy problem to solve -- you'll need to manage the session state -- and set up multiple doc_roots for the various servers -- but I think it can be done. What your are probably thinking of is a program called "HeadsUp" which uses TclHttpd and requires the browser to use a proxy.pac file. Checkout http://www.freewebs.com/headsup for more information. It was my very first attempt at programming so be warned! If I was going to do this kind of thing now, I would be looking at using a Squid Proxy Caching server and one of its new features, I think called "Session Helper". This allows you to redirect the first browser request based on IP address, Username etc. You may have to write a small database to keep track of the session info. I was thinking of using TclHttpd/Wub and a Metakit combo to do this myself but have not got around to it. To be honest, I don't believe there is any way you could enforce
this. Sure, you could, as you say, make the first request always
redirect to your website, but what if the client configure their web
browser to give an empty page on startup? Then, when they enter a URL
they will be highly surprised and confused when it, in fact, brings
them to your homepage.
Even if you did decide to go that way, the method is not trivial. How
do you know what is the first request? You do not know when the users
shuts their browser down. Thus it would certainly not work in all
cases. What some ISPs do is to see when the client receives an IP
address via DHCP and then redirect their first HTTP request to the
ISPs own website. Perhaps this is what you are after. Of course, that
will only happen when the machine fetches the address.
Tclhttpd might help as part of the solution here, but it would not be
the whole solution, as you need that redirection in place, probably
by configuring the routers or tweaking DNS.
As a shameless plug, our company's net gurus could probably make
