[Tclhttpd-users] Cleaning up package dependencies

I would like to undertake the task suggested by Akupries here:

The task would make lib/* closed under [package require] so that
requiring a package would require all of its dependencies.

I think the benefits are that it would be far simpler to configure a
'minimal' tclhttpd by only selecting the packages one requires.  It'd
make tclhttpd more 'modular'

Any objections to my attempting to clean the stables?  I might have to
redirect a river or two :)  Would it be better if I undertook this on a
new development branch of CVS?
