Past conferences have seen submissions covering a wide variety of topics including: * Scientific and engineering applications * Industrial controls * Distributed applications and Network Managment * Object oriented extensions to Tcl/Tk * New widgets for Tk * Simulation and application steering with Tcl/Tk * Tcl/Tk-centric operating environments * Tcl/Tk on small and embedded devices * Medical applications and visualization * Use of different programming paradigms in Tcl/Tk and proposals for new directions. * New areas of exploration for the Tcl/Tk language Submissions should consist of an abstract of about 100 words and a summary of not more than two pages, and should be sent as plain text to <tclconference AT googlegroups DOT com> no later than August 5, 2013. Authors of accepted abstracts will have until September 2, 2013 to submit their final paper for the inclusion in the conference proceedings. The proceedings will be made available on digital media, so extra materials such as presentation slides, code examples, code for extensions etc. are encouraged. Hi there, For my master-thesis I'm writing a C#-application that will run Tcl-scripts via the code found at http://wiki.tcl.tk/9563 Usually, I'm a linux-guy but the company I work with wants me to use C#. Tcl version used is 8.5.11, compiled locally from source with debugging symbols (using Visual Studio 2010) In one tcl-script, I have a "socket"-command (client-socket, wrapped in a catch-block) to connect to another server. As long as this command succeeds, everything is fine. When there is an error (timeout, host unreachable), a thread is not ended correctly and stays sleeping (see: http://kripton.kripserver.net/pix/tcl_sleeping_thread.png). When not calling "Tcl_Exit" before reaching the end of my C#-applications's main-function, the program will not exit and can't even be stopped by a debugger. The "Line 2211" mentioned at the stack trace is from source file tclWinSock.c. So the socket waits for messages (from the OS) but won't get any. Wouldn't be closing the sock on an error be the correct behavior here? I tried Tcl_DeleteInterp but it didn't work. When I use Tcl_Exit, the program terminates correctly but my question is: Is it known that a sleeping thread remains? Will there be a new thread for every failed call to "socket"? (Memory leak?) * Object oriented extensions to Tcl/Tk
* New widgets for Tk
* Simulation and application steering with Tcl/Tk
* Tcl/Tk-centric operating environments
* Tcl/Tk on small and embedded devices
* Medical applications and visualization
* Use of different programming paradigms in Tcl/Tk and proposals for new
directions.
* New areas of exploration for the Tcl/Tk language
This year is the fourth year that the Tcl community is participating
in the Google Summer of Code. The conference program committee would
like to encourage submissions that report on the Tcl projects selected
for Google SoC 2011.
Submissions should consist of an abstract of about 100 words and a
summary of not more than two pages, and should be sent as plain text
to <tclconference AT googlegroups DOT com> no later than August 26,
2011. Authors of accepted abstracts will have until October 9, 2011
to submit their final paper for the inclusion in the conference
proceedings. The proceedings will be made available on digital media,
so extra materials such as presentation slides, code examples, code
for extensions etc. are encouraged.
Printed proceedings will be produced as an on-demand book at lulu.com
The authors will have 25 minutes to present their paper at the
conference.

retained by the author. You can put this on your website, include it
in a book, expand it into a novel, sell the movie rights, etc.

My app http://scidvspc.sf.net has a new feature involving a ttf font. On unix i can just use fc-cache to update the font dir. On windows, i know i can copy the fonts to "$env(windir)/fonts", but they don't work straight away. Is there a way to do this, or even embed the font data into a TCL script , similar to the image create photo -data {} command cheers, Steven Atkinson |

I am trying to use a bidirectional pipe to communicate with gnuplot.exe <http://www.gnuplot.info/> under ActiveTcl on Windows XP. This gnuplot executable works fine from cmd.exe or my Bourne shell, but not tclsh. The Tcl documentation for [open] warns of problems due to contention for stdin and stdout. I tried to circumvent this by using wish, and am half way there, the problem now is that the readable-event handler only gets called on eof. John H. The conference program committee would like to encourage submissions that report on the Tcl projects selected for Google SoC 2010. Authors of accepted abstracts will have until October 1, 2010 to submit their final paper for the inclusion in the conference proceedings. The proceedings will be made available on digital media, so extra materials such as presentation slides, code examples, code for extensions etc. are encouraged. Printed proceedings will be produced as an on-demand book at lulu.com The authors will have 25 minutes to present their paper at the conference.
