I know from Clif Flynt that Matthew Burke is finishing our application and will submit it shortly. I've put my draft on the wiki at http://wiki.tcl.tk/22713 (it is mostly copy&paste from 2008). I've also added at the top of "2009 Idea page" some info from last year. I've also made a http://purl.org/NET/tcl-gsoc2009 which redirects at http://wiki.tcl.tk/22182. Maybe we should use it to overcome current wiki slowdown. --tkosiak |

It would still need to point to the wiki for the editable bits, but would not suffer our currently serious wiki issues. Jeff |

It looks as if we have been accepted this year again. http://socghop.appspot.com/program/accepted_orgs/google/gsoc2009?limit_0=100 http://socghop.appspot.com/org_app/show/google/gsoc2009/tcltk And <q> For those of you who get a congratulatory email, please follow the instructions in our User Guide to update your organization profile and home page *immediately*. Without those details added, students will be less likely to find you and get interested in your project. That is a great news. Matthew should complete our organization profile ASAP so we can join as mentors. Updated profile seems to be also required for students to be able to send an applications to us. We are listed in section entitled as: "An overview of accepted organization applications that have not yet created their organization profile. Students can only apply to organizations that created their organization profile. All, Sorry for the delay---I didn't check email all day yesterday (and the withdrawal symptoms last night weren't _too_bad_). I'll get the org profile, etc. updated at some point this afternoon. Matt |

All, I'm in the process of filling out our application profile and I need somebody to create a mailing list for this year (we probably don't want to advertise tcl-soc2008 :) Because I need to fill in a blank, I've put down tcl...@li..., but I'm not deeply attached to that name. Whoever creates the list can name it---then let me know and I'll update the profile. Check back later today and you can see the application template I've cribbed/borrowed/adapted. Send me corrections, complaints, etc. Matt |

Whoever creates the list can name it---then let me know and I'll I have created the list tcl-gsoc. That should be good for years to come. It will take a while to propagate. SF says 6-24 hours (doesn't currently exist), but when it does, people can sign up at: http://lists.sourceforge.net/mailman/listinfo/tcl-gsoc Jeff |

I've already been contacted by a student wishing to take on the tclhttpd refurbish project. He sounds like a promising candidate. A CS undergraduate at Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology. I've suggested that he post to the tcl-gsoc list introducing himself. --Steve Huntley |

I hadn't thought to have him join the gsoc group yet, but that is a good idea for all the interested students. Jeff |
