Good point about the communications. Like you, I've been swamped
lately and not kept up on things.
Kris has sent me an update that his work is progressing and is
sending me his second code snapshot for review tomorrow.
When did the Polish schools let out? I know those students can not
start as soon as Google expects, but will continue working after Google
thinks the program has finished.

In fact they have exams even till the end of June. But they should be
able to squeeze out some time for GSoC in June betwen the exams and
then work harder in July to catch up.
But let them speak up individually how it was and what is the plan.

I've started in the middle of June, actually. Before that day, I was
setting environment for Jacl, configuring and ... waiting for
credentials at SF repository (my commits are in HEAD branch). I've set
my plan to do Tcl 8.4 compilance level at minimum, so even if I didn't
finish till the Google's final evaluation, I will continue my work at
this project later.
