Agreed. KBK made up a file for the Tcl test suite, derived from
the Verdonk test vectors cited in the TIP, I believe. I'd have the
TIP just specify that those tests should pass.

KBK knows best, but one issue I think was that some of the calculations
done by the Gay code (and required to solve the problem) involve the
use of "big integer" calculations. The needs to put "big ints" in the
core before tackling this problem seemed to be what slowed it to a halt.
