I agree with Jan. Presumably, it does not impede Pietro as he can always pull from that branch (or main branch once its merged.)

I would prefer to wait. It's so fresh, better let more people test it before
rushing it in. We can release Thread 3.0.4 with this change later, and
people who want to use it with Tcl 8.6 can just drop it in there.
I see no reason to delay Tcl 8.6.17 for this.
