Indeed, adding an API in a patch release should be done with care. It won't be the first time, TIP #701 dit it as well (with my agreement!): <https://core.tcl-lang.org/tips/doc/trunk/tip/701.md> I think - in this case - the necessary precautions are taken, but it's open for discussion. If found not acceptable, it can be made a MODULE_SCOPE function (which will be exposed in 9.1) as well. Hope this helps, Jan Nijtmans |
