Excellent idea. I've always considered these to be core commands anyway 
and I'm not quite clear why they are excluded, except for being 
platform-specific. We have AppleEvent support (Mac IPC mechanism that is 
similar to DDE) in the core.

As a tangent, is there any interest in integrating Schelte Bron's dbus 
and dbif libraries in the core as bundled packages? Schelte, what do you 
think? Including these would give Tcl/Tk full platform-native IPC 
support across all three platforms. I'd be glad to sponsor a TIP.
