With google groups going away, I think it's a bit of a problem that the
main community hub for Tcl is on usenet. Actually, even if google groups
weren't going away, I think it's still a problem - I think Tcl/Tk is
suffering from a lack of a properly accessible and usable community
forum that encourages Tcl users to get together and discuss their
projects/tips/tricks, and potentially draw new users to the language.

- Usenet is pretty obscure now and isn't very user friendly or welcoming
in the modern age, and as I understood it, in order to use it, you have
to pay for service or run a server yourself manually if you don't want
to pay.
I was recently looking into usenet just so I could post on comp.lang.tcl
and after encountering those issues, I eventually just gave up.

- The Tcler's Wiki is pretty good and a lot more accessible, but the
wiki format is a bit awkward for discussion and the user interface isn't
really the best. I've posted there a bit.

- I've sometimes seen TkChat mentioned on this mailinglist, I tried it
once and it failed to run on my linux system, printing an error message
and exiting immediately. I wasn't able to get it to work.

- There's an IRC channel, but IRC is another old-fashioned thing that's
not very commonly used these days. But it's at least more accessible
than usenet.

All this isn't good if we don't want Tcl to fade away into obscurity,
and if we want to get new users and attention.
I think it'd be ideal if some sort of new community discussion site were
to be set up, perhaps some sort of online forum, but I'm not really sure
what would be best.
