This is just a bug. It is fixed in the current top of the macosx branch.
Look back in the archives of this list for the Announcement of the port for
instructions on how to get & build this.  It is really quite easy...

A couple of people have expressed interest in this, but it is a lot of work
to make this happen.  The biggest problem is that TkPerl is using a pretty
old version of Tk, and so someone will have to do the TkPerl magic to update
the code base to 8.4.  This seems not to be entirely trivial, and last I
heard no one was actively working on it.
