yes that works fine, but as I said it's not possible to load dynamic 
libraries from a scripted document without some work to deal with 
resource forks.

the biggest problem re. now money is probably that building on the 
mac currently needs Metrowerks CodeWarrior Pro6. You might be able to 
get this cheaply from someone who has upgraded to Pro7 (or by getting 
academic pricing like myself)

otherwise I don't know of anything that would prevent you from 
building Tcl/Tk on an old powermac, except that it will be slow (on 
my imac DV 450 Mhz building the full distro takes ~30 mins)
